3G Service

nexgen(3gser)AT&T:
User indignation about 3G service provided by AT&T for iPhones is at its highest point ever. The spotty service and dropped calls point towards a great defficiency of insight in the wireless industry. However, numerous analysts state that the difficulties faced by AT&T could have been faced by any other telecom company who harbored the iPhone from Apple. In the last 3 years, the data traffic for AT&T has increased by a staggering 5000%. According to them, AT&T has the fastest 3G network in the country. However, experts who agree on this also state that AT&T bit off more than it could chew. Customers with iPhones in San Francisco and New York are outraged at the service provided by AT&T. They continue to face several problems like interruptions in service, just to name one. And that is only the beginning. A recent survey revealed that, in 19 cities across the nation, all other telecom providers were better at consumer satisfaction than AT&T. Also, in close to 75 % of the studied area, AT&T was found to have extremely low availability of service, bad quality of sound service and the highest number of dropped calls.
The famous commercial, “There’s a map for that” showed AT&T to have an exponentially smaller 3G footprint over the states as compared to Verizon Wireless. But recent studies reveal that AT&T has got a faster 3G network in the States. The map shown in the commercial by Verizon was correct. But AT&T houses almost 80% of the 3G population of America in its network. All these studies reveal that AT&T was and probably still is the most capable company to handle the iPhone in America.

Sprint Nextel:
Another company that has been criticized for meager customer service and quality of network is Sprint Nextel. But newly found evidence reveals that Sprint’s 3G network is probably the most reliable in the entire country. It also has the best signal strength in the nation’s urban areas. It also boasts of having the only up and running 4G network in the nation. Sprint Nextel’s biggest problem has always been retaining customers. But even this is starting to turn around. Roughly 148000 customers axed their service with the company in the final 3 months of last year. This is extremely less when compared to the last 3 months of 2008 when close to 1.3 million customers axed their service with Sprint. However, it isn’t yet time to draw different conclusions. Even company insiders accept the fact that they will have to improve a lot more to change the way customers feel about Sprint. It still has a smaller 3G map than Verizon which is the standout leader in 3G service. But Sprint is in the running as it has made some vast improvements and has some exciting phones to go with it.
